Philadelphia's Secret Eats

list of skills in cooking

You can travel to new countries with great excitement. But, where do you go for the best and most delicious food? Here are a few of my favorite places to find off-menu items and other hidden gems. Philadelphia is a great place to eat if you're hungry. It is also known for its non-meat dishes. Adam explores Philadelphia's hidden treasures in this episode. Philadelphia is home of some amazing secret foods.

Off-menu items

You've heard of the "secret eats," but what do they really consist of? These are special off-menu items that only loyal customers can order. You might not order them in a restaurant if you don't know what they're called. They may cost extra, but they're well worth it. They are often shared by word-of mouth and social media so you don't have to ask awkwardly.

While some fast food restaurants may promote secret menu items to lure diners, others won't. You can request to sample an item from the secret menu and just wait for it to arrive. Some chains don't have the time to prepare these items for customers, so you can't count on them to make them. But if you want one of these secret eats, make sure to train your front and back-of-house staff to accommodate the order. If you have a coffee shop, for example, customers may be able to order secret drinks online. This can prove problematic if the recipe is not known.

How to cook steak

The right cooking method for any type of meat depends on its thickness. Thicker steaks, for example, are better cooked at low heat while thicker steaks require higher temperatures.

Also, don't cook them too long as it will cause loss of flavor. And remember always to remove the steak from the pan when it's done - this way, you won't burn yourself.

Cooking times will vary depending on how large the steak is and what degree of doneness you desire. Here are some guidelines:

You are done when the internal temperatures reach 180°F (82°C). This usually requires 8 to 12 minutes per side.
