How To

How to make the perfect omelet

Omelets are a favorite breakfast food of mine. How can you make them perfectly? I've tried many different methods and recipes, but none of them seem to work! So I am sharing some tips and tricks today to help you make fluffy, delicious omelets every morning.

When making omelets, it is important to be aware that eggs can be temperamental. Eggs must be purchased fresh, preferably organic, and kept chilled until ready for cooking. If you don't keep them cold enough, the whites won't form properly, and the yolks will break down too much and become runny. This makes your omelets look weirdly colored. If you plan to cook the eggs right away, it is best to use room temperature eggs.

Another tip is to separate the egg before adding it to the pan. You don't want the white to get mixed with the yolk, as this could cause the egg to curdle.

You could end up burning the bottom half of the egg if the egg is added directly to the heat source. Instead, heat the egg for 10 seconds in the microwave before placing it in the pan. The microwave heat will cook the egg just right without making it too hot.

Let's now talk about mixing eggs. When you mix eggs together, you want to beat them well. Turn the bowl upside down and grab the whisk to do this. Then shake the bowl vigorously. The egg will be thoroughly mixed in the bowl as the air is whipped.

The fun part begins - you need to pour the milk into your mixture. Pour half the milk into the beaten egg mixture and then fold in the eggs. Don't worry if there are still streaks of egg visible; these streaks will disappear once you flip the omelet.

After you have folded your eggs, heat up the oil on medium heat. Wait for it to get hot. Once the oil has gotten hot, add 1/4 cup of butter and swirl it around so that the entire pan is coated. Carefully open the pan's lid and add salt to the pan. An additional pinch of salt will prevent the omelet form sticking to your pan.

Cover the pan once the omelet is formed and allow it to cool completely. Flip the omelet upside down or with a spatula. Cook the second side for a minute or so. Serve the omelet immediately by removing it from the pan.

This recipe works best with whole milk, but skimmed milk also works.
