How to make a perfect omelet

Omelets are one of my favorite foods to eat at breakfast. But how do they turn out so perfectly? I've tried many recipes and different methods but none have worked. So I am sharing some tips and tricks today to help you make fluffy, delicious omelets every morning.

It is important to know that eggs can be temperamental when making omelets. Eggs must be purchased fresh, preferably organic, and kept chilled until ready for cooking. They must be kept cool, otherwise the whites will not form properly and the yolks may become runny. This causes your omelets to look oddly colored. It is best to use room-temperature eggs if you are going to cook them right away.

Another tip is to separate the egg before adding it to the pan. Because this could cause your omelet to become curdled, you don't want any yolk to be mixed with any white.

If you add the egg directly onto the stovetop, you might end up burning the bottom part of the egg, which would ruin the texture of your omelet. Instead, heat the egg in a microwave for 10 seconds and then place it in a pan. The microwave heat is sufficient to cook the egg without overcooking.

Next, let's discuss mixing the eggs. When you mix eggs together, you want to beat them well. You can do this by turning the bowl of your mixer upside down. Then, vigorously shake the bowl. By doing this, the egg is thoroughly mixed with the air in the bowl.

Now comes the fun part - pouring the milk into the mixture. First, pour half of the milk into the beaten eggs and then fold the eggs gently into the remaining milk. If you still see streaks of eggs, don't worry. These streaks will disappear once the omelet has been turned over.

After you have folded the eggs, heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil has started to sizzle, turn the heat down to low. Once the oil starts getting hot, add 1/4 cup of butter to the pan and swirl it around to coat the entire surface of the pan. Now carefully crack open the lid of the pan and sprinkle salt into the pan. An additional pinch of salt will prevent the omelet form sticking to your pan.

Once the omelet has formed completely, cover the pan and let it set for a few minutes. Flip the omelet upside down or with a spatula. Cook the other side for another minute or two. Serve the omelet immediately by removing it from the pan.

This recipe is best made with whole milk. However, it can also be used with skimmed milk.
